Tau began directing opera while in college, working with his peers to present small works like Samuel Barber's A Hand of Bridge and Ned Rorem's Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters.  Later he would work with Houston Grand Opera's Opera To Go! to bring children's opera to thousands around the metropolitan city.  He directed Tosca at the then budding Opera in the Heights and spent six years as Director of Opera Theatre at Sacramento State University.  He is now Artistic Director of Rogue Music Project, directing rare and contemporary works in extraordinary settings.
