classical performances

nicht anna, for baritone voice, bass clarinet, accordion, and contrabass, is based on a text by Kurt Schwitters.  Music by Phillip Blume.  The text is subjected to a kind of 'reading-through' technique (cf. Roaratorio), but designed in such a way that a pronounceable pseudo-German emerges. This work was premiered by the Ensemble Ictus, conducted by Georges-Elie Octors.




after whitman, is a song cycle for baritone and chamber group. Excerpt: "The Open Road". Music by Michael Remson, text from selected poetry by Walt Whitman. Recorded live at the American Festival for the Arts summer music conservatory, Houston, Texas, July 2002. Featuring Alex Adkins, Trung Trinh (violin), Sheila Browne (viola), Wendy Smith-Butler (cello), Sandor Ostlund (bass), Andrea Moore and Joel Stein (percussion). Conducted by Eric McIntyre.
